First time wearing a kilt? Don't worry - we'll walk you through every step.
Whether you're hiring for a one-off event or buying your own Cornish kilt to wear with pride, a fitting is where it all starts. If you've never worn a kilt before - or even stepped into a formalwear shop - it can feel a bit daunting. But at Cornish Kilts, we make the process relaxed, friendly, and even fun.
Here's what you can expect when you come for a fitting.
We'll Start with a Warm Welcome
You'll be greeted by one of our knowledgeable team members who'll guide you through the process. No pressure, no fuss - just honest advice and great service in our Callington shop.
Measuring for the Perfect Fit
We'll take a few quick measurements:
Waist (where the kilt will sit)
Hip
Length (from waist to mid-knee)
This ensures your kilt fits comfortably and looks sharp, whether you're hiring or buying.
Choosing Your Outfit
We'll help you to choose:
Tartan style (Cornish National is our most popular)
Waistcoat or Jacket options
Tie or Bowtie colours to match your wedding or event.
Accessories like brooches, flashes, and sporrans
Whether you're going traditional or putting your own twist on it, we'll help you build a complete outfit that works.
Trying It On
You'll get to try on your kilt and outfit pieces so you can see how it feels and looks. We'll check the fit and offer any adjustments or alternative options if needed.
Hiring? We'll reserve your outfit for the date you need it.
Buying? We'll get your order underway and confirm turnaround time.
Repeat Appointments Welcome
Need to come back with the full wedding party? No problem. We often book fittings for grooms, groomsmen, and family members. Just let us know how many to expect!
